Are you still using Trizol to extract RNA?
Gosh, don’t let me worry about your health!
Trizol is about to be marginalized, don’t tell me you are still in the dark?

The main component of Trizol reagent is phenol, and organic reagents such as chloroform are also added in the experimental operation. Long-term exposure will cause harm to your health, especially direct skin contact can cause severe chemical burns and permanent scars.

Under normal circumstances, the laboratory partners can only reduce the hazards by fully arming themselves (wearing lab coats, gloves and masks).

And my advice to you is: please replace Trizol directly to avoid harm from the source.

1. The first generation product of RNA extraction
Come out in 1987 (Trizol reagents)

advantage:
More complete extraction

Disadvantages:
Toxic reagents such as guanidine isothiocyanate-phenol-chloroform are required;

Cumbersome operation;
Need to use DNase to remove DNA contamination

2.The second generation product of RNA extraction
Come out in 1994 (QIAGEN RNeasy and most domestic products)

advantage:
Column centrifugal method is adopted, which is easy to operate;

Disadvantage:
Need to centrifuge to remove tissue debris

Need to use DNase to remove DNA contamination

3.The third generation product of RNA extraction
Coming out in 2005 (QIAGEN RNeasy Plus and Foregene RNA purification series products)

advantage:
Directly use DNA removal column to remove DNA and tissue debris at the same time, saving time and effort;

Safe and convenient, no need to add filter column and DNase to easily remove impurities and avoid DNA contamination

Let’s look at the operational differences between the first-generation product (Trizol), the second-generation product (RNeasy) and the third-generation product (Foregene) of RNA extraction:news716 (3)

The operation in the figure is clear: the third-generation product has obvious advantages

Just three words to describe: easy! Fast! Safety

The PK chart of the experimental results for the first-generation, second-generation and third-generation products of RNA extraction:

1. Electrophoretogram

The first generation (1: Trizol)
The second generation (2:QIAGEN RNeasy)
The third generation (3: QIAGEN RNeasy plus, 4: Foregene)

What kind of product is good, you will know by comparison
RNA extracted using the Foregene kit
Not only high concentration but also good integrity

2.qPCR graph (amplification curve graph)

The first generation (Trizol)

The second generation (sky blue means QIAGEN RNeasy-, red means QIAGEN RNeasy +)

news716 (7)

The third generation (blue means Foregene, green means QIAGEN RNeasy plus)

(Note: The second-generation QIAGEN RNeasy of qPCR graph means that the kit does not add DNase and does not remove DNA contamination. Therefore, the CT is higher and the result is not accurate; QIAGEN RNeasy + means that DNase has been added and the DNA contamination has been removed, and the result is accurate)

Whether it is an electrophoretogram or a quantitative PCR amplification curve graph, the quality of Foregene products is not inferior to foreign imported products.
